## Brevo pricing by email volume and contacts

The slider in Brevo's "Customize your plan" calculator sets two things at once: how many emails you can send each month and how many contacts you can store. For a store that collects a lot of addresses, the second cap is the one that decides your tier.

Starter stops at 100,000 emails a month. Above that, Standard goes up to 500,000 emails and Professional runs from 150,000 to 10 million, with up to 2 million contacts.

What this means for a store:

- **Contacts can set the tier.** With 3,000 contacts, the 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000-email tiers are too small even if you send little: you need at least the 20,000-email tier, at $32 on Starter or $69 on Standard.
- **The upgrade is automatic.** On the first three tiers, Brevo warns you as you get close to the cap, then [moves you to the next tier](https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/208589409) once you go over it. A list-building push can change your price.
- **Unused emails don't roll over.** On a monthly plan, credits renew on each billing date and leftover credits expire just before, according to the Help Center.

If your cart and welcome flows run on more than 2,000 contacts, Standard is the tier that lifts the automation cap. WhatsApp only shows up on Professional, listed under "Additional marketing channels."

## How much does Brevo SMS cost?

Brevo has no SMS plan. [Texts are paid in credits](https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/208717449), sold in packs of 100 with no expiration date, on every plan. The number of credits per text depends on the recipient's country and on the number of characters in the message.

On the pay-as-you-go page on October 24, 2026, with prices in US dollars, 1,000 credits cost $10.90:

A long message uses more credits, and Brevo notes that marketing texts face send-time restrictions that vary by country. Brevo's SMS article adds that US senders registered for a toll-free number can send images by MMS, at 2.1 SMS credits per MMS. ## How much does WhatsApp cost on Brevo?

WhatsApp works like texting, with one condition: according to the pay-as-you-go page, WhatsApp credits can only be bought on the Professional and Enterprise plans. Omnisend, for comparison, has no WhatsApp channel in its plans ([Omnisend pricing](https://getkanal.com/blog/omnisend-pricing)).

The calculator takes three inputs: number of messages, destination country and message type (Marketing or Utility). For 1,000 messages:

The calculator also lists a marketing rate for "United States/Canada" (2.957 credits per message in the capture above). Brevo's own article on [WhatsApp message pricing](https://help.brevo.com/hc/en-us/articles/4416961286674) opens with the caveat that matters for US stores: since April 1, 2025, Meta has paused the sending of marketing templates to WhatsApp users with a US phone number. The same article explains how credits are used:

- **Marketing**: promotional campaigns, and automations such as welcome or birthday messages.
- **Utility**: order and shipping updates, account verifications, and messages sent from Conversations outside the 24-hour window.
- **Since October 1, 2026**, each service message (a free-form reply inside the 24-hour window) and each utility template sent inside that window is charged at the utility rate of the recipient's country. Brevo warns that credit usage may go up.
- **Charges can stack**: a marketing template followed by a restarted conversation is charged as both a marketing and a utility message.
- **No credits, no sending**: messages go out only once you buy more credits.

## What do Brevo's add-ons cost?

Each plan can be extended with add-ons billed separately. Amounts come from the Help Center unless stated otherwise:

## Brevo billing: monthly or yearly, tax and plan changes

The billing rules in Brevo's Help Center:

- **Yearly**: 10% off, charged upfront for the year. Email credits still renew every month on the same date.
- **Monthly**: charged on each billing date and renewed automatically; credits bought separately are charged at purchase.
- **Tax**: prices on the pricing page exclude taxes; checkout adds any taxes that apply where you are based.
- **Downgrading**: you first cancel your current subscription, which ends at the close of the billing period.
- **Pausing**: a monthly subscription can be paused for up to 3 months; a yearly one cannot.

## Three sample budgets for a Shopify store

Brevo connects to Shopify through its app. Its [Shopify integration page](https://www.brevo.com/integrations/shopify/) says the app syncs customer data, purchase history and order status, and supports abandoned cart and post-purchase automations. The stores below are fictional; prices come from the pages read on October 24, 2026, before tax.

### Example 1: a new store with 2,000 contacts

One newsletter a month and a welcome series: under 5,000 emails a month. But 2,000 contacts are above the 500 and 1,500 caps, so the store needs the 15,000-email tier (2,500 contacts).

- Starter: $25 a month, or $300 over twelve months on monthly billing; $22.50 a month on yearly billing ($270 a year).
- Standard: $49 a month, or $44.08 a month on yearly billing.

Starter's automation covers up to 2,000 contacts: past that, you need Standard.

### Example 2: a growing US brand on email and SMS

10,000 contacts, four campaigns a month (40,000 emails), plus cart and post-purchase flows: about 48,000 emails, so the 50,000 tier.

- Standard at 50,000 emails: $97 a month.
- 1,000 texts to US numbers for a flash sale: $10.90 in credits, bought once, with no expiration.
- Total for the month of the sale: **$107.90 before tax**, then $97 in months without texts.

### Example 3: a UK brand adding WhatsApp in Brevo

WhatsApp requires Professional, whose first tier includes 150,000 emails, 10 seats and up to 2 million contacts.

- Professional at 150,000 emails: $499 a month, or $449.08 a month on yearly billing.
- 1,000 WhatsApp marketing messages to the UK: 7,515 credits, $81.91, bought in packs of 100 ($82.84 at checkout).
- Total for the first month: **$581.84 before tax** on monthly billing.

Here, WhatsApp is what moves the budget from Standard to Professional. A US brand would face the same plan requirement, with utility messages only (order and shipping updates) for its US customers.

Back to example 2: Standard at 50,000 emails ($97) plus Kanal Pro (€89), plus Meta's per-message fees. Two points before you start. If most of your customers have US numbers, Meta does not deliver marketing templates to them, whichever provider you use; utility messages such as order and shipping updates still go through. And if Brevo already sends cart reminder emails, space the delays between the two tools so a shopper doesn't get two reminders at the same moment.

## How to keep your Brevo bill under control

1. **Count contacts before emails.** Below 2,500 contacts, the contact cap sets your tier; above it, your email volume does.
2. **Clean your list before you hit a cap.** On the first three tiers, the move to the next tier is automatic.
3. **Switch to yearly once your volume is stable.** You save 10%, but you pay a year upfront and can't pause.
4. **Keep texts short.** Longer messages use more credits.
5. **Budget WhatsApp on its own.** Professional plus credits in Brevo, or a dedicated app plus Meta's fees: run both on your real volumes.
