# WhatsApp Pay

WhatsApp Pay is the name commonly given to payments on WhatsApp: paying a person or a business without leaving the chat. For businesses, Meta documents payment features on the WhatsApp Business Platform for two countries, India and Brazil.

In India, the platform's payment features rely on UPI and on payment gateways, with order details templates and payment links. In Brazil, they cover Pix, payment links, boleto and one-click payments. These are the two country sections of Meta's developer documentation as of October 8, 2026.

The promise is a complete loop inside one thread: discover a product in the catalog, ask a question, and pay, without switching apps or re-entering card details on a checkout page.

Elsewhere, there is no in-chat payment for businesses: the usual pattern is a payment or checkout link sent in the conversation. Availability depends on local regulators, so businesses should check what applies in their country.
