Reviews are the trust signal that turns a hesitant visitor into a buyer. On Shopify they also feed Google rich snippets, Shopping ads and marketplace listings. The Shopify review app you choose decides how many reviews you collect, how they display on your theme and whether they reach Google, Trustpilot or other platforms.
Our recommendation is Kanal. It asks for the review on WhatsApp after delivery, and customers reply with text, photos or videos right in the chat. The reviews then sync with Judge.me, Loox or Shopify native reviews, which display them on your product pages. We compared 12 Shopify review apps for 2026 on collection channels, photo and video support, display widgets, syndication, incentives and pricing. If collecting reviews is your bottleneck rather than displaying them, look at the request channel first: it makes a bigger difference than any widget.
How We Compared the 12 Apps
We installed each app on a test Shopify store, placed orders, and let the automated request sequence run for two weeks to compare request timing, channels and the review submission form on mobile. We scored six dimensions: collection channels (email, SMS, WhatsApp, on-site popup), review formats (text, photo, video), display widgets and page speed measured with Lighthouse, syndication to Google, Meta and marketplaces, incentive and moderation tools, and pricing against monthly order volume. Prices, plan limits and features were checked on each app's Shopify App Store listing on September 10, 2026. Apps no longer available on the App Store were removed, and the featured app is labeled as such.

Where and When to Ask for a Review
Timing beats template. Ask after the product has been used, not when it ships: a few days after delivery for most categories, two to three weeks for supplements and skincare. Ask on the channel the customer opens. Email requests are the default and the easiest to ignore. SMS lifts response for mobile-heavy audiences. Kanal reports open rates of 96% and more for WhatsApp review requests, and they get the most replies in markets where the app dominates. Ask once, remind once, and make the answer easy on a phone: a three-tap form, or a reply in the chat. Everything else, from widgets to syndication, only matters once the reviews exist.
What to Look for in a Shopify Review App
- Collection channels. Email is table stakes. SMS, WhatsApp and an on-site popup each add reviews the others miss.
- Formats. Photo and video reviews show the product in real use. Attribute ratings such as fit or quality give shoppers structured answers.
- Display and speed. Widgets load on every product page. Prefer apps built on theme app extensions with deferred scripts.
- Syndication. Rich snippets for Google search, Google Shopping ratings, and sync to Meta, TikTok Shop, the Shop App or Trustpilot, depending on where you sell.
- Moderation and replies. You should be able to reply publicly, hide reviews that break your rules and route negative feedback to support.
- Incentives. Coupons for any review, never only for positive ones, lift response without breaking platform rules.
- Pricing model. Most apps price by monthly orders or review invites. Check the cap against your volume during peak months.
The 12 Best Shopify Review Apps
#1 Kanal WhatsApp, review requests on the channel customers actually open
Most review apps send the request by email, and many of those emails go unread. Kanal leads this list because its review collection flow asks on WhatsApp instead. The request goes out automatically after delivery confirmation, and Kanal reports open rates of 96% and more. Customers reply with text, photos or videos directly in the chat, with no link or form to fill in. Kanal collects and organizes that UGC for you. You choose the delay: three to seven days after delivery usually works best. Collected reviews sync with review platforms such as Judge.me, Loox and Shopify native reviews, so they appear on your product pages through the review app you already use. Plans start at $89/month, with a demo on request. The same platform runs order notifications, post-purchase upsells and abandoned cart recovery.
#2 Reviewz.ai, Google and Trustpilot reviews from WhatsApp, SMS and email (featured)
Reviewz.ai collects public reviews for Shopify stores with post-purchase invitations sent by WhatsApp, SMS and email. Its flow first asks customers whether they are happy. Satisfied customers are sent to Google or Trustpilot, and negative feedback is captured privately so you can follow up. Orders sync from Shopify in real time, and the app works with Judge.me, Google My Business, Slack and Discord. Starter costs $59/month for up to 250 orders, Growth $119/month for 2,500 orders and Unlimited $299/month. Every paid plan includes WhatsApp, SMS and email, AI analysis and upsell automation, and the free plan is a demonstration. Reviewz.ai fits stores that want ratings on Google and Trustpilot, next to a product review app that handles the product page.
#3 Judge.me Review, unlimited reviews on a free plan
Judge.me is the most reviewed app in this comparison, rated 5/5 from 46,696 reviews, and it carries the Built for Shopify badge. Requests go out automatically by email, SMS and push after fulfillment or delivery. The Forever Free plan includes unlimited product and store reviews, unlimited photo and video reviews, a review widget, carousels, Google reviews sync with rich snippets, and sync with the Shop App, Etsy and Amazon. The Awesome plan costs $15/month, with a 15-day free trial. It adds AI replies, summaries and translations, 16 widgets including Q&A and a reviews page, auto-reminders, coupons and referrals, Google Shopping, and Meta and TikTok Shop sync. Judge.me also imports reviews from Yotpo, Loox, Amazon and Etsy, which eases a migration.
#4 Loox Review, visual reviews with referrals

Loox Studio turns them into social posts and stories. Rated 4.9/5 from 9,579 reviews, Loox says 100,000 ecommerce businesses use it. The Beginner plan is free up to 500 orders, with review request emails, discounts for photo reviews and 17+ widgets. Convert costs $49.99/month for 300 orders, plus $50 per additional 300 orders, and adds video reviews, AI features, referrals and syndication. Unlimited costs $299.99/month. Both paid plans come with a 14-day free trial.
#5 Reviews.io, product and company reviews

#8 Yotpo Reviews, reviews connected to Yotpo Loyalty

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Shopify review app?
Kanal is our pick for collecting more reviews on Shopify. It sends the request on WhatsApp after delivery, customers answer with text, photos or videos in the chat, and the reviews sync with Judge.me, Loox or Shopify native reviews for display. Plans start at $89/month. For on-site display, the Shopify review apps on this list differ mainly on free plan limits, syndication and add-ons such as loyalty or Q&A. Judge.me's free plan includes unlimited reviews, for example, and Reviewz.ai sends invitations to Google and Trustpilot.
Are there free review apps for Shopify?
Yes. Judge.me's Forever Free plan includes unlimited product and store reviews, and Junip's free plan includes unlimited review request emails. Loox is free up to 500 orders, Rivyo up to 100 orders a month, and Yotpo and Okendo up to 50 orders a month. Reviews.io includes 25 review invites a month and Trustpilot 50 invitations. Fera offers a 60-day free trial instead of a free plan, and Stamped starts at $23/month. Check the cap against your order volume in peak months.
Do review apps slow down my Shopify store?
Review widgets load on every product page, so they matter for Core Web Vitals. Loox and Junip describe their widgets as fast on their listings. Test a product page with Lighthouse on a mobile profile before and after install, and use the app's theme app extension rather than pasting code into your theme. Kanal collects reviews on WhatsApp and syncs them to your review app, so the display stays with that app.
Can I use two review apps at the same time?
Yes, when they do different jobs. A common pairing is a product review app for on-site display, such as Judge.me or Loox, plus Kanal to request reviews on WhatsApp and sync them back to that app. Reviewz.ai can add Google and Trustpilot invitations on top. Avoid two apps that both display product reviews: duplicate widgets and split review counts hurt more than they help.
Do review apps support Shopify Markets and multiple languages?
It depends on the app. Judge.me's Awesome plan includes AI translations, Loox's Convert plan adds AI translations of reviews, and Junip lists multi-language display among its features. Most listings show the app interface in English only, so check how request emails and widgets handle each storefront language. Under Shopify Markets, also check whether reviews collected in one market display in another.
Can I offer a discount for leaving a review?
You can offer an incentive for leaving a review, but not for leaving a positive one, and the review should disclose it where the platform requires. Judge.me includes coupons on its Awesome plan, and Loox offers discounts for photo reviews on its free plan. Rivyo adds coupon rewards from $14/month, Junip lists incentives from $29/month, and Fera rewards reviews with discounts, points or cashback. Google and Trustpilot have their own rules on incentives, so keep incentivized reviews on-site and collect off-site reviews without rewards.
How do I get more reviews without buying more traffic?
Ask on a channel customers open. Email requests are easy to ignore. A WhatsApp message a few days after delivery gets read, and with Kanal's review collection flow the customer answers right in the chat, with text, photos or videos. Reviewz.ai sends WhatsApp, SMS and email invitations for Google and Trustpilot. Then remind once, keep the request short and show existing reviews prominently.
Our Recommendation
The number of reviews you collect depends on the request more than on the widget. Kanal is our recommendation for that request: it asks on WhatsApp after delivery, collects text, photo and video replies in the chat, and syncs them with Judge.me, Loox or Shopify native reviews so your product pages show them. Keep the display app that fits your budget and features; the comparison table above lists each free plan and entry price. Reviewz.ai adds invitations to Google and Trustpilot. The WhatsApp for Shopify hub explains how the channel fits alongside your review app, and our guides to the best loyalty apps for Shopify and best Shopify customer service apps cover the rest of the retention stack.
