Key takeaways
- ManyChat bills by active contacts per month, from $0 for 25 contacts to $199 a month for 25,000, with an overage fee per extra contact.

The ManyChat alternatives that merchants compare most often for Instagram DM automation are Kanal, LinkDM, Inrō, Chatfuel, CreatorFlow, Spur and SendPulse. They differ on three points: what you pay for (contacts, DMs sent or a flat plan), which channels they cover beyond Instagram, and whether they read your store data.
This comparison takes ManyChat as the reference and reads each alternative on its own public pages, with the plans and prices displayed on October 11, 2026. If you run a Shopify store, the short version is that Kanal's Instagram DM automation is built on your products, carts and orders. The rest of the article gives you what you need to compare the others.

How we built this list
The tools are listed from their public pages (pricing page, product page, help center) read on October 11, 2026. We kept the tools merchants compare with ManyChat for Instagram DMs and whose prices we could read that day. Each one is described in its vendor's own terms, and prices are quoted as displayed, without conversion. Kanal is our product: it comes first because this is our blog, and the table lets you check every other option yourself.
What ManyChat does well, and why people look elsewhere
ManyChat describes itself as a tool that "helps creators and social-first businesses handle engagement at scale". Its pricing page says it works across Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, email and SMS, and that it is an official Meta Business Partner. Its Instagram page lists four automatic actions: send links, reply to comments, reply to DMs and get new followers. The Flow Builder lets you design the conversation step by step, and Quick Automations guide you through the common cases.

The reasons to compare come from the same pricing page, read on October 11, 2026:
- The price follows active contacts. Free covers 25 active contacts a month, Essential ($17 a month) 250, Pro ($39) 2,500, Business ($99) 7,500 and Advanced ($199) 25,000 on monthly billing. Above the limit, automations keep running and each extra contact is billed: $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business.
- Channels depend on the plan. Free and Essential connect up to 2 eligible channels, Pro up to 3, Business and Advanced all of them.
- The focus is creators and social-first businesses. A store that wants answers based on its catalog, carts and orders may prefer a tool that starts from the store.
Our ManyChat pricing guide goes through the grid line by line, including WhatsApp message fees.
The 7 ManyChat alternatives
1. Kanal, Instagram automation on Shopify store data
Kanal is our product: a Shopify app for WhatsApp and SMS marketing that also automates Instagram. Its Instagram automation page lists three blocks running on one engine: comment-to-DM on posts and Reels, auto replies to DMs and story reactions, and AI answers to product questions from your Shopify catalog, with a buy link. Products, carts and orders are synced, so there is nothing to export.
Kanal runs through Meta's official Instagram messaging API on your professional account. Instagram and WhatsApp conversations land in one inbox with one customer profile, and an engaged follower can join your WhatsApp list with a one-tap opt-in.
Instagram automation is included in Kanal's plans, from $89 a month, and the AI agent is part of the Scale plan at $149 a month. There is no plan at $0. Details are on the pricing page, and the Kanal and ManyChat comparison sets the two side by side.
2. LinkDM, auto DMs for creators billed by DMs sent
LinkDM presents itself as an AutoDM platform for creators: it replies to comments on posts, Reels, ads, Lives and stories with a DM that carries your link. Its site says it works with Instagram and Facebook only, and that it has been a Meta Business Partner since 2021.
On its pricing page on October 11, 2026: Free at $0 with 1 Instagram account and up to 1,000 DMs a month, Pro at $19 a month with 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs, and Platinum+ at $99 a month with 10 accounts and 300,000 DMs. The limit is a number of DMs, where ManyChat counts contacts. Our LinkDM review covers the plans in detail.
3. Inrō, Instagram DM automation with an AI agent
Inrō describes itself as an "AI-powered Instagram DM automation tool to drive growth and sales from comments and DMs", and displays the Meta Tech Provider badge. Its home page lists four parts: an AI agent, DM campaigns, comment to DM, and a smart inbox with a CRM.

Its pricing page, in euros on October 11, 2026, shows Free at €0 (100 active contacts a month, 3 active automations, 3 campaigns a month), Pro from €12.99 with a 14-day trial, where the price scales with the contacts you activate each month, an Annual Pro at €1,249 for 10,000 or more active contacts a month, and a managed plan starting at €299 a month. Contacts stored in the CRM are unlimited on every plan.
4. Chatfuel, an AI chatbot platform across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook
Chatfuel calls itself "an AI chatbot platform for WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook" and displays the Official Meta Partner and WhatsApp Business Solution Provider badges. Its Business plan lists automatic replies to post and Reels comments, bulk WhatsApp campaigns, lead scoring and CRM sync.
On its pricing page on October 11, 2026, the Business plan was US$20 a month on monthly billing, or US$18 a month billed yearly (US$216 a year), with US$20 of AI credits a month. An Agency S tier for 3 companies was US$90 a month billed yearly. Every plan starts with a trial, and the page says usage limits apply.
5. CreatorFlow, comment-to-DM at a flat price
CreatorFlow sums itself up as "Comment to DM, automatically" and addresses creators, coaches, service businesses and agencies. Its plans cover comment-to-DM, story reply automation and keyword triggers on Instagram.
Its pricing page on October 11, 2026 showed Free at $0 (1 Instagram account, 500 automated DMs a month), Pro at $15 a month or $12 a month billed annually (2 accounts, 5,000 DMs per workspace a month, email collection before the link), and Growth at $30 a month or $24 billed annually (5 accounts, 10,000 DMs per workspace, 5 team seats). Paid plans open with a 14-day trial.
6. Spur, a multi-channel AI agent with a Shopify integration
Spur describes itself as "a multi-channel AI Agent for marketing and customer support" and displays the Meta Business Partner and Shopify Partner badges. One shared inbox covers WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and live chat.
Its pricing page, read on October 11, 2026 with annual billing selected, showed AI Acquire at $12 a month ($144 a year) with Instagram automation and 3 automation flows on Instagram and Facebook, AI Start at $31 a month ($374 a year) adding the Shopify integration, WhatsApp automation and 25 flows, AI Accelerate at $127 a month and AI Max at $399 a month. Every plan can be tried for 7 days. WhatsApp messages are billed in addition, at rates the page lists by country.
7. SendPulse, Instagram chatbots inside a wider marketing suite
SendPulse offers Instagram chatbots with a no-code builder, next to its email, SMS and CRM products. Its Instagram chatbot page lists flows triggered by subscriptions and story mentions, automated DMs and public replies to comments, and in-chat payments.
On its chatbot pricing page, in euros on October 11, 2026, the Basic plan was €0 with 3 chatbots, up to 500 subscribers and 10,000 messages a month. The Pro plan for 500 subscribers was €11 a month, or €8.80 a month billed annually (€105.60 a year), and the price rises with the number of subscribers.
Contacts, DMs or flat plan: which billing fits you?
The same month of activity costs differently depending on the unit.
- Billed by contacts (ManyChat, Inrō, SendPulse): you pay for the people you interact with or store. One person who exchanges twenty messages counts once. A post that brings thousands of new commenters moves you to the next tier.
- Billed by DMs sent (LinkDM, CreatorFlow): the limit is a number of messages a month. This is easy to predict for comment-to-DM, where one comment means one DM, and less so for long conversations.
- Flat plan (Kanal, Chatfuel, Spur): the subscription does not move with your audience. Check what the plan limits instead: flows, seats, AI credits, or message fees on WhatsApp.
Take your busiest month, not your average, and run it through the pricing page of each tool you shortlist.
What Instagram allows, whatever tool you choose
A tool that connects through Meta's official API is bound by Meta's rules, and so is every account that uses it. Two limits from Meta's developer documentation matter for comment-to-DM:
- One private reply per comment, within 7 days. The page on private replies (updated June 30, 2026) says only one message can be sent to the commenter, within 7 days of the comment. A follow-up is possible only if the person responds, within 24 hours of that response.
- A 24-hour window for DMs. The messaging documentation (updated September 28, 2026) says a business can message a person only after that person has written first, and for most actions the window lasts 24 hours. A reply by a human agent can use a separate 7-day window.
No tool can lift these limits. Our guide to Instagram auto reply and DM automation explains how they shape a flow, and the comment-to-DM setup guide shows the mechanic step by step.
How do you choose a ManyChat alternative?
- Start from your account type. A creator who sends links under Reels needs comment-to-DM and a generous DM limit. A store needs product answers and a link to carts and orders.
- List your channels. If WhatsApp matters, check whether it is included, on which plan, and how messages are billed.
- Price your busiest month. Use the unit each tool bills on, as in the section above.
- Check the connection method. The tool should connect through the official Meta or Instagram login and never ask for your Instagram password.
- Test with one post. Most tools here have a $0 plan or a trial: run one keyword on one Reel before you move everything.
Frequently asked questions
What are the main ManyChat alternatives?
This comparison lists seven, read on their public pages on October 11, 2026: Kanal, a Shopify app that covers Instagram DMs, WhatsApp and SMS, then LinkDM, Inrō, Chatfuel, CreatorFlow, Spur and SendPulse. Kanal is our product, which is why it comes first. Each tool is described in its vendor's own words, with the prices displayed that day.
Why do people look for a ManyChat alternative?
Two reasons come up from ManyChat's own pricing page. The price follows the number of active contacts per month, with an overage fee above the plan limit, so a viral post changes the bill. And the number of channels depends on the plan: 2 on Free and Essential, 3 on Pro. A store may also want a tool that reads its Shopify catalog and orders.
Is there a ManyChat alternative with a free plan?
On October 11, 2026, four tools in this list displayed a plan at $0 or €0: LinkDM (1 Instagram account, 1,000 DMs a month), CreatorFlow (1 account, 500 automated DMs a month), Inrō (100 active contacts a month) and SendPulse (up to 500 subscribers). ManyChat itself has a Free plan limited to 25 active contacts a month.
Which ManyChat alternative works with Shopify?
Kanal is a Shopify app: products, carts and orders are synced, and its AI answers product questions from the catalog with a buy link. Spur lists a Shopify integration from its AI Start plan, at $31 a month on annual billing on October 11, 2026. Check each vendor's integration page for the other tools before you choose.
Are ManyChat alternatives allowed by Instagram?
Automation is allowed when it goes through Meta's official Instagram messaging API on a professional account. Meta's documentation sets the limits: one private reply to a comment within 7 days, and a 24-hour window to answer a DM. Tools that ask for your Instagram password instead of the official login are a different category, which Instagram's Help Center warns against.
