Klaviyo Alternatives: 11 Tools for E-commerce Brands (2026)

Klaviyo alternatives compared: channels, pricing models and Shopify fit for Kanal, Omnisend, Brevo, Mailchimp, Shopify Messaging, Postscript and more.
Table of contents (18)
The right Klaviyo alternative depends on what you want to change: the pricing model, the channel mix, or the place where your customers actually reply. If they answer on WhatsApp more than they open email, our pick is Kanal, a WhatsApp-first marketing and automation platform for e-commerce brands. Kanal goes furthest on Shopify, where it installs as a native app, and it also connects PrestaShop stores. It can take over part of your Klaviyo program or run next to it, since it syncs your Klaviyo segments.
The ten other tools below replace Klaviyo's email, its SMS, or both, each with a different pricing model. We compared 11 tools on their channels, their Shopify fit and the entry price shown on their own pricing page.
Why merchants look at Klaviyo alternatives
Klaviyo prices its plans on active profiles. Its pricing page defines an active profile as any contact in your database that can receive marketing, and says your monthly cost scales directly with the total number of active profiles you have. When we checked, the Email plan was $20/month at 500 active profiles and $30/month at 1,000, and the free plan covered up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends per month.
When you compare alternatives, three questions matter:
- What do you want to pay for? Some tools bill differently: by list size and send volume (Drip), by mailable contacts with unlimited sends (Privy), or by messages sent (Shopify Messaging).
- Where do your customers reply? Brands whose customers answer on WhatsApp need a tool built around that channel. Brands that sell mostly in the US and Canada may want a text messaging specialist.
- What do you actually use? A store that sends a weekly newsletter needs less than a brand running dozens of segmented flows across channels.
What Klaviyo does well
Screenshot of the Klaviyo website.
Klaviyo covers a lot of ground. Its Shopify App Store listing, rated 4.7 stars from 3,290 reviews, describes email, SMS, WhatsApp, mobile push and pop-ups in one app, real-time sync of Shopify data, more than 350 integrations, AI-powered segments and flow triggers, and a Customer Hub and Customer Agent meant to turn service moments into shopping moments. For brands whose program is built on email, that depth is a good reason to stay. In that case, adding a specialist channel next to Klaviyo can make more sense than migrating everything.
How we compared the tools
We read each tool's website and pricing page, and its Shopify App Store listing when it has one, on September 11, 2026. Each tool was checked on four points:
- Channels: email, SMS, WhatsApp and push, as the vendor lists them.
- Pricing model: what the bill is based on (contacts, sends, messages or a custom quote).
- Entry price: the first paid plan shown on the vendor's pricing page, in US dollars, billed monthly unless noted.
- Shopify fit: the app or integration the vendor documents.
We did not score or rank the tools ourselves. Prices change often, so check the vendor's page before you buy.

The 11 best Klaviyo alternatives
1. Kanal, the WhatsApp-first alternative that also works with Klaviyo
The Kanal app: campaign report.
The Kanal app: integrations page.
Kanal is a WhatsApp marketing and automation platform for e-commerce brands. It suits brands whose customers answer on WhatsApp more than they open email: campaigns, automated flows and the replies that follow happen in the same channel, with Shopify data in every conversation. Kanal goes furthest on Shopify, where it installs from the Shopify App Store, and it also connects PrestaShop stores through its store API, with setup done by a Kanal expert.
- Campaigns: a visual campaign builder with images and buttons, segmentation, scheduled sending, and analytics for delivery, clicks and revenue per campaign.
- Automations from store events: abandoned cart sequences with product images, names and prices, order and shipping updates, post-purchase recommendations, back-in-stock alerts and review requests.
- Works with Klaviyo: your Klaviyo segments sync to Kanal, and Klaviyo flow events can trigger WhatsApp messages, so your email and SMS stay where they are.
- Pricing: from $89/month with no commitment. Segments and the Klaviyo integration come with the Scale plan, not with the entry Pro plan. WhatsApp (Meta) fees are passed through at cost, with no hidden per-message markup.
Choose it if WhatsApp is, or should become, your main retention channel. Our Kanal vs Klaviyo comparison explains how the two tools fit together.

Worth a look if you want several messaging channels in one contract, with strategic support included.
Replace Klaviyo, or add WhatsApp next to it?
You don't have to migrate everything to change channels. Kanal integrates with Klaviyo, so you can keep email and SMS flows in Klaviyo and run WhatsApp in Kanal:
- Segments: your Klaviyo segments sync to Kanal. A VIP or win-back list built for email becomes a WhatsApp audience without rebuilding it.
- Flow triggers: Klaviyo flow events, like a welcome series or a post-purchase step, can trigger a WhatsApp message.
- Reporting: Kanal tracks WhatsApp revenue, so you can compare it with your email and SMS results.
Our Klaviyo WhatsApp integration guide walks through the setup step by step. If WhatsApp becomes your main channel, Kanal also works on its own: cart recovery and order updates run from Shopify events, and campaigns go to the segments you build in Kanal.
How to choose a Klaviyo alternative
Start from where your customers reply, then from what you want to pay for.
- Your customers answer on WhatsApp: Kanal, on its own or next to Klaviyo.
- You want email and SMS in one tool, priced on contacts: Omnisend, or ActiveCampaign if you also want a CRM.
- You want to stay inside Shopify: Shopify Messaging.
- You mostly send newsletters: MailerLite or Mailchimp, both with a free plan.
- List growth comes first: Privy.
- Text messaging in the US and Canada is your core channel: Postscript, or Attentive for a custom multichannel contract.
- You want email, SMS and WhatsApp in one account: Brevo (WhatsApp on Professional) or ActiveCampaign (WhatsApp plans).
Before you switch, check three things:
- Your real list size: price each tool at your number of contacts, profiles or sends, not at the entry tier.
- What moves with you: flows, segments, templates and historical data. Ask each vendor what its migration covers.
- Opt-ins per channel: a WhatsApp campaign needs WhatsApp opt-ins. Kanal collects them at checkout and on your site.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best alternatives to Klaviyo?
It depends on what you want to change. If your customers answer on WhatsApp more than they open email, our pick is Kanal, a WhatsApp-first platform for e-commerce brands that can also run next to Klaviyo and use its segments. To replace email and SMS, look at Omnisend, Brevo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Drip or MailerLite. Shopify Messaging keeps everything inside Shopify, and Postscript and Attentive focus on text messaging.
Who is Klaviyo's biggest competitor?
There is no official ranking. Several e-commerce marketing platforms position themselves directly against Klaviyo: Omnisend, Brevo, Attentive and Privy all link to a Klaviyo comparison from their pricing pages. Kanal takes a different route on WhatsApp, since it connects to Klaviyo instead of asking you to leave it.
What's cheaper than Klaviyo?
At small list sizes, several tools start lower. On September 11, 2026, Klaviyo's pricing page showed its Email plan at $20/month for 500 active profiles. Brevo Starter was $9/month, MailerLite Comfort $12/month (up to 500 subscribers), Mailchimp Essentials from $13/month and Omnisend Standard $16/month (500 contacts). Each tool scales differently, so compare them at your real list size and channels.
What are the top 3 email marketing platforms?
There is no neutral ranking. If you go by Shopify App Store reviews on September 11, 2026, the three email apps with the most reviews among the tools in this article were Shopify Messaging (4,465 reviews), Privy (4,227) and Klaviyo (3,290), followed by Omnisend (3,181).

Does Klaviyo support WhatsApp?
Yes. Klaviyo's Shopify App Store listing covers email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, and WhatsApp marketing appears in its product menu. Kanal is built around WhatsApp, with Shopify data in every conversation and automations triggered by store events.
